Rove Slapped With Another Subpoena
House Judiciary Committee chair John Conyers subpoenaed Karl Rove today to testify about alleged politicization of the Justice Department, USA Today reports. Subpoenaed for the first time last Congress, Rove claimed executive privilege and refused to show. Conyers said that unlike former President Bush, President Obama does not support immunity for Rove, who must testify a week from today.
Conyers had previously subpoenaed other Bush aides over Justice Department conduct, such as the firing of US attorneys and prosecution of ex-Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman. "Change has come to Washington, and I hope Karl Rove is ready for it," said Conyers. "After two years of stonewalling, it’s time for him to talk."
